Due to a significant decline of Allan Law's health, he is no longer able to lead the Minneapolis Recreation Development (MRD) that he started and has effectively cared for through the past 50+ years. Ever since Allan battled cancer many years ago, both he and I knew there would be the day that he would no longer be able to lead MRD and I would be taking over the leadership.
Allan and I grew up in a home where both our parents modeled service to humanity; we often heard our mother say, "Love One Another," and this has reflected Allan's service in meeting the needs of the vulnerable; as for me I served as a pastor to two churches from 1983 - 2000 and since 2000 I have been a psychotherapist providing care to patients. I am now semi-retired as a psychotherapist and now able to devote time to leading Minneapolis Recreation Development, also referred to as LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Some words I live by and encourage in others: "Love your neighbor as yourself...Live in harmony with each other...Never pay back evil with more evil...Do all you can do to live in peace with everyone" (Leviticus 19:18; Romans 12:16-18).
In anticipation of leading MRD someday I completed a Master of Public Affairs in 2017 at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, majoring in nonprofit management; I also have a Master's Degree focusing on Conflict Resolution at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in 1996; a Master of Art in Theological Studies at Bethel Seminary in 1979; a Master of Divinity at McCormick Seminary in 1980, and a Doctor of Ministry in Marriage & Family Therapy at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 1982.
I have been married to Maureen since 1982; she grew up in Dublin, Ireland and together we have four adult children and five grandchildren; hobbies include dogs, sports, reading, Irish history, peacemaking, and religious diversity.
